Benedictine University Description:

Founded in 1887, Benedictine University is a mid-sized private university grounded in the Benedictine tradition of the Roman Catholic Church. Benedictine students can choose from 55 bachelor degree programs, 15 masters degree programs, and 4 doctoral programs. Professional fields in health, nursing, and business are most popular among undergraduates, but the university takes pride in offering a wide range of both professional fields and traditional areas of study in the liberal arts and sciences. Academics are supported by an 18 to 1 student / faculty ratio. The university has kept on top of 21st-century educational trends and has many on-line offerings, especially at the graduate level. Benedictine's main campus is in Lisle, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago. The school also has branch campuses in Springfield, Illinois and Mesa, Arizona, as well as international sites in Vietnam and China. Students stay involved outside of the classroom, and the university is home to over 40 student clubs and organizations including the Candor Newspaper, Sci-Fi Fantasy Club, and numerous service and academic clubs. On the athletic front, the Benedictine Eagles compete in the NCAA Division III Northern Athletic Conference. The school fields 9 men's and 11 women's intercollegiate sports.
